The Pera Gang

A notoriously opportunistic collective of significantly powerful riff-raff and theives led with a firm but popular hand by the infamous Pera Brothers. Membership in the Pera Gang is very selective. They have never numbered over 20, yet have done the deeds of groups of men 10 times as many. They have most commonly travelled the trade roads in the Jerlon regions but have ‘set up shop’ in a few border-towns where nary a hedge-knight would bother to confront them. They are popular among the smallfolk because they generously share the wealth stolen from their (mostly) royal or highborn victims. They are not known to murder or rape.

On occassion the gang has earned further good will of the people by aiding during times of war or harrassment. With a feirce response they have defended small towns and even minor keeps from the attacks of orcs, undead, and other creatures. They notably hunted down and destroyed the enitre vampire clan of Morteglaz in the town of Merlot a decade ago. They also have sided with the Free Shrindell movement – making an uneasy alliance with George Cayhill. During the god wars the Pera gang saved over 5,000 farmers and smallfolk by turning the tide at the Battle of Lake Geneen. But even Cayhill himself said of their leader: “I would have offered Tey Pera a Lordship if I hadn’t already disavowed my own. How a band of 20 could not only hold the line but repell the van of a legion of frost giants, the gods alone may know. The bards should sing of this feat for 10,000 years, but still I will never fully trust them.”
